P015 → Office of Good Ideas
According to the Urban Planning study carried out by UCC in 2016 there is 634 people either living or working on North Main Street. That's about seven busloads. Seven buses lined up would probably clog up the entire street.
We are the 'Office of Good Ideas', an artistic research project by Cork-based artists Eszter Némethi and Caoilian Sherlock in cooperation with the North Main Street Trader's Association. We have been working on this street for three years as two of the curators of Quarter Block Party and during this time we became fascinated by the value, values, system of values, local economies and ecologies on the street.
Cork City is in transition, North and South Main Street is ahead of major transformation, there is a housing crisis in parallel with an economic recovery. For the week of 9th-14th October we will be setting up a first iteration of what an 'Office of Good Ideas' could be, how would an institution for thinking together could fit into the street's identity.
