P01 → Solstice
Solstice was a four day multidisciplinary arts event as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival and supported by the festival team but produced and curated by four Trainee Creative Producers Eszter Nemethi, Ruairi Donovan, Dawn McAllister and Shirley Sommers. The event took place in two consecutive years in 2011 and 2012 first at the Old Fas Building on Sullivan's Quay comprising over 40 performances over four days and providing a residential festival experience for over 100 emerging Irish artists with a programme including talks, workshops, family events, a visual arts exhibition, work in progress and theatre, dance and music (and anything in between).
In the second year the festival took place on the ground floor of the iconic Elysian building with the subtitle 'It's all about community' and alongside the main programme it also included off-site performances as well as a month-long mentored residency programme called TITLE (This Is Tough Love Everybody).
